      Huawei Mate 80 Pro Overview

      Design and Display

Just like the regular Mate 80, the Pro model sticks to Huawei’s signature styling. You get the familiar circular camera housing with XMAGE branding, while the frame itself is built from aluminum for durability. On the front, the Mate 80 Pro features a 1.5K LTPO OLED display that can vary from 1Hz to 120Hz. It also reaches an impressive 8000 nits of peak brightness, making it more than capable for outdoor visibility. The phone is protected by second-generation Kunlun glass and supports 1440Hz PWM dimming along with a 300Hz touch sampling rate.

      Camera

The camera setup on the Mate 80 Pro is quite similar to the vanilla model, with one change. It still starts with the 50MP primary camera featuring a variable aperture, followed by a 40MP ultrawide unit. The difference here is the telephoto lens: the Mate 80 Pro features a 48MP sensor with 4x optical zoom. On the contrary, the vanilla Mate 80 boasts a lower-res 12MP tele unit with 5.5X optical zoom. So, Huawei has kinda done a trade-off with the zoom level for a higher resolution.

      Performance, Battery, and Others

Powering the Mate 80 Pro is a more powerful Kirin 9030/Pro chipset than the 9020 found in the regular version. The 9030 Pro SoC is available only in the higher-end 16GB variant. Moreover, it is paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, along with storage options of up to 512GB, depending on the variant you choose. The software side is also unchanged, with the phone running HarmonyOS 6.0 right out of the box.

For endurance, Huawei has equipped the Pro model with a 5,750mAh battery that supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, USB Type-C 3.1, and BDS Satellite Calling and Messaging for users in China.
