Huawei Nova 15 launched in China with Kirin 8020 and 3X telephoto camera

Huawei, the top dog name in the Chinese tech world, has unveiled the Nova 15 smartphone in China. This new offering brings a Kirin 8020 chipset, 50MP Red Maple camera, and more. In this article, we'll cover the specifications, features, and expected price of the Huawei Nova 15 in Nepal.

Design and Display

It's Huawei, after all, so elegance in the design section is inevitable. The Nova 15 features a premium look with a circular camera frame set within an oval module. It secures an IP65 rating for dust and water splash resistance. As for the display, you are looking at a 6.7-inch flat OLED panel with a FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. It also supports P3-wide color gamut coverage and aluminum silicate glass protection, and the display carries SGS five-star certification for improved drop and impact resistance.

Performance

Under the hood, the horsepower is provided by Huawei's in-house Kirin 8020 5G SoC. The company claims a 62% overall performance boost, a 52% improvement in multi-core CPU performance, a 26% improvement in GPU performance, and a 128% improvement in NPU capabilities compared to the previous generation.

This device runs on HarmonyOS 6.0, which includes system-level AI features, AI air gestures, AI air transfer, and AI smart payment. It also supports HarmonyOS smart communication technologies like Beidou satellite messaging and 2.4GHz StarLink off-grid connectivity.

Camera, Battery, and Others

Getting to the optics, the Nova 15 rocks a triple camera setup. It is headlined by a 50MP 1/1.56 inch primary sensor, a 12MP RYYB portrait lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral color sensor. Meanwhile, the front side houses a 50MP selfie snapper with a 1/2.5-inch sensor size. Both the front and main cameras are capable of 4K res recording.

Likewise, fueling the smartphone is a 6000mAh Silicon Anode battery with 100W fast charging support. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, USB Type-C, and multi-band positioning systems like GPS, Beidou, Galileo, and NavIC.
