Insta360 has officially introduced its new Luna Ultra pocket gimbal camera, with a modular detachable design, dual-camera setup, and up to 6x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom, and 12x digital zoom support. The new creator-focused camera arrives as a direct rival to DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 series while bringing a few unique features of its own. Insta360 Luna Ultra Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Insta360 Luna Ultra comes in a compact, pocket-sized form factor with a clean and minimal aesthetic. It features an integrated gimbal system that helps stabilize footage while maintaining high portability for flexible shooting. 

The device also adopts a modular design, where the front section of the handle can be detached and used as a wireless remote control, making it easier to operate the camera during solo shooting or when capturing different angles.

Moving on to the display, the Luna Ultra features a 2-inch OLED touchscreen that can be used for framing shots, navigating menus, and reviewing footage. The detachable screen also functions as a wireless remote controller, enabling HD live monitoring and camera control from up to 20 m away. As for the camera, the Insta360 Luna Ultra comes with a dual-camera system consisting of a primary 1-inch sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and 20mm equivalent focal length, alongside a telephoto camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 60mm equivalent focal length. The telephoto lens delivers 3× optical zoom, while the system supports up to 6× lossless zoom and up to 12× digital zoom, providing greater flexibility when capturing subjects at varying distances.

This means you can easily switch between wider shots for everyday scenes and closer framing for more detailed shots without losing too much clarity.

For video, the camera can record at up to 8K@30fps, capture 4K@120fps, and shoot slow-motion footage at up to 4K@240fps. Additionally, it comes with 47GB of built-in storage and supports microSD cards of up to 1TB, giving users plenty of space for high-resolution photos and videos.

In terms of battery, the Insta360 Luna Ultra packs a 1,550mAh battery, which is said to offer up to four hours of use, depending on settings like resolution and recording mode.

On the performance side, the Insta360 Luna Ultra features 3-axis mechanical stabilization along with Deep Track 5.0 subject tracking, helping deliver smoother footage and reliable subject following while shooting. It also comes with a built-in joystick and zoom rocker for easier framing and control, along with a touchscreen interface for quick adjustments.

For connectivity, it includes a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, while Wi-Fi 6 on the main camera unit and Wi-Fi 4 on the detachable display ensure stable wireless communication and remote control between components.

The Insta360 Luna Ultra is now officially available globally, with a starting price of USD 769.99. While it is yet to launch in the local market, if it does arrive here, one can expect the Luna Ultra price in Nepal to be around NPR 117,499.
