There's one more reason not to buy the iPhone 17e 🙃

Apple added a new member to its iPhone 17 lineup in Nepal—the iPhone 17e—back in March. The phone brings the A19 chip, Apple's own C1X modem, and MagSafe support, which was missing from last year's iPhone 16e; on top of 256GB base storage instead of just 128GB. But a couple of months after its launch, the iPhone 17e has seen a price hike. So let’s dive into this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest iPhone 17e, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
iPhone 17e Overview
Display and Design

The iPhone 17e sticks with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. Same 60Hz refresh rate, same 1170 x 2532 resolution. There‘s nothing really new there, but Apple did update the front glass. It's now Ceramic Shield 2, which the company says has three times better scratch resistance than the first gen. There's also an anti-reflective coating to cut down glare outdoors.
The body is aerospace-grade aluminum with a glass back. It weighs 169 grams, just a tiny bit more than the 16e. Similarly, Face ID is still how you unlock it, and the Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro is here too. You can map it to open the camera, turn on the flashlight, or run shortcuts. And finally, the Colors this time are Black, White, and a new Soft Pink. No wild shades here.
Performance and Connectivity
Under the hood is Apple's A19 chip built on a 3nm process. It's a 6-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores. Apple claims it's up to twice as fast as the iPhone 11. The 4-core GPU supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, whereas the 16-core Neural Engine is tuned for Apple Intelligence features. It runs generative models locally, which is the direction Apple's been heading with iOS.
The bigger change might be the modem. Apple's using its own C1X chip here, not Qualcomm. It's the same modem found in the iPhone Air and is supposedly twice as fast as the C1 in last year's iPhone 16e. Apple also says it uses 30% less power than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. For navigation, you're looking at GPS with L1 and L5 bands, plus GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, and NavIC. So it's covered pretty much everywhere.
Camera and Battery

The rear camera is a single 48MP Fusion sensor. It shoots at 24MP by default, but can do full 48MP if you want. The sensor cropping gives you an optical-quality 2x zoom. Similarly, the camera automatically captures depth info when it sees people or pets, so you can adjust background blur after taking the shot. And video recording also goes up to 4K Dolby Vision at 60fps, and there's wind noise reduction powered by machine learning.

Battery

Battery life is rated at 26 hours of video playback, up from 22 hours on the 16e. That's likely thanks to the more efficient C1X modem and A19 chip. Charging also finally gets MagSafe support. You get 15W wireless charging now instead of the 7.5W limit on the 16e. Wired charging hits 50% in around 30 minutes with a 20W adapter. For audio, you've got stereo speakers with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support.
