The Government of Nepal recently introduced the Taxpayer Incentive Prize Program (करदाता प्रोत्साहन उपहार कार्यक्रम), where consumers can win cash prizes simply by taking a proper bill while purchasing goods or services. Eligible payments made through Khalti, eSewa, mobile banking and supported QR payment systems can automatically enter the lucky draw. Cash-paying customers can also participate by manually registering their bill through the  IRD portal.

      How to Be Eligible

      • Make an eligible purchase of more than Rs. 100 for personal use.
      • Purchase from a PAN/VAT-registered business.
      • Always take and keep the original PAN/VAT bill.
      • For digital payments, use a supported wallet, mobile banking app or QR payment.
      • If paying cash, register your bill manually at the official IRD prize portal here.

Each eligible transaction generates one lucky-draw entry, regardless of how much you spend. For example, the first Rs. 10 lakh bumper winner reportedly entered through a transaction worth just Rs. 250.

      Which Payments Do Not Qualify?

      Some transactions are excluded, including:

      • Business or commercial purchases
      • Electricity and internet bills
      • Telephone bills
      • Airline tickets
      • Transportation-related services
      • Purchases from businesses without PAN

      How Much Can You Win?

      The program offers:

      PrizeAmount
      Daily PrizeRs. 1 lakh
      Bumper PrizeRs. 10 lakh

Winners are selected through the Inland Revenue Department's automated system.

      Most Important: Keep Your Bill

Even if your digital transaction is automatically registered, keep the original bill. Winners may need to submit the original invoice, identification, PAN and bank account details before receiving the prize.
