TECNO POVA Curve 2 launched in Nepal with 144Hz Curved AMOLED Display and 8000mAh battery!

Tecno has just launched its all-new POVA Curve 2 5G in Nepal as the successor of the TECNO POVA Curve 5G. The device highlights a huge 8000 mAh battery and a smooth 144Hz curved AMOLED display. So yeah, in this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the POVA Curve 2, including its price, specification, features, and official price in Nepal.

TECNO POVA Curve 2 Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the POVA Curve 2 is inspired by the interstellar spaceship, especially around the camera area. The phone features a triangular camera module, with the layout said to resemble spacecraft thrusters. The phone uses rounded double curves, which TECNO says should make it easier to hold for long periods.

This time, TECNO is also pushing for a slimmer physical profile, with a 7.42 mm design. TECNO claims that this makes it the world's slimmest curved-display 5G smartphone with an 8,000 mAh battery. For weight, the phone weighs around 195g and is available in Mystic Purple, Melting Silver, and Storm Titanium color options.

Moving to the display, the POVA Curve 2 5G features a huge 6.78-inch FHD+ 10-bit curved AMOLED panel with an impressive 93.18% screen-to-body ratio that immediately sets it apart in its price segment. The panel features a fast 144Hz refresh rate, which can also be configured to 120/90/60 Hz as needed, and comes with a 2160Hz touch sampling rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and fluid animations.

Talking about brightness, the device features a pretty impressive 1600 nits of brightness in High brightness mode, while the panel can peak at 4500 nits, making it more than enough for indoor or outdoor use. Additionally, the panel also features  2304Hz PWM dimming, which helps minimize eye strain in low-light situations. For protection, here we get Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which is standard in this price segment.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, you get an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor built on a 6nm process, which we can say is a very iterative update to the 3-year-old MediaTek Dimensity 7050. This SoC features 4 Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.4GHz, 4 Arm Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 2.0GHz, and comes with a Mali-G610 MC2 GPU.

If we see the smartphone market in Nepal, around the price of 40-50k, we can easily find devices with much better performance featuring a processor such as Dimensity 8200 Ultimate, Dimensity 8350 Ultimate. Talking about the camera, it features a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and can record at up to 30 fps in both 1080p and 1440p, followed by a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie shooter that can record up to 1080p at 30 fps. With this setup, you can get decent casual photos, but don't expect portraits to be spectacular, as it lacks a telephoto lens.

In terms of battery life, the phone gets its juice from a huge 8000mAh cell, which should last at least 1 day of heavy use. You also get 45W fast charging, which TECNO says 50% charge in just 50 minutes
