Bose launches QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) with upgraded ANC and immersive audio

Bose is back with the new QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) after the successful launch of the QuietComfort Headphones. The latest model keeps the series’ focus on comfort and noise cancellation while bringing several upgrades in the ANC department, which was previously reserved for Bose’s more expensive Ultra lineup. In this article, I will discuss this pair of headphones in detail, including the expected QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) price in Nepal, specifications, and availability in detail. 

QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) Overview

Design, build, and comfort 

At first glance, the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) still look familiar. Bose has not completely redesigned the headphones, but there are several small changes that make the new model easier to distinguish from its predecessor. For more precise control during everyday use, Bose includes button controls. Along with this, you can choose between standard “Black” and “White Smoke” finishes, which are further joined by limited-edition “Eucalyptus Green”, “Dewdrop Mint”, and “Rosewood Mauve” options. 

More importantly, comfort remains one of the main reasons to consider the QuietComfort lineup. Bose redesigned the headband and adjusted the clamping force to provide a more secure fit without adding unnecessary pressure. It also includes more oval-shaped earcups with soft cushioning and additional padding on the headband so that you feel more comfortable for long listening sessions, whether you are working at a desk, travelling, or simply listening to music at home. 

ANC and App Compatibility

Moving on, ANC remains the biggest reason to look at the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), and Bose has focused heavily on improving it. Here, the headphones use a six-microphone array that uses adaptive feedforward processing to deal with changes around the earcups. One of the more practical improvements is its ability to compensate for broken seals caused by thick glasses frames, hats, or even hair. 

In addition, Bose also claims to improve its ActiveSense processing in Aware Mode and gives you the ability to manually adjust the ANC level through the Bose app or turn noise cancellation off completely. The app also allows users to create custom listening modes and assign them to the physical action button on the left earcup. 

Besides that, you can also use the Bose app for further customization, which is available on both Android and iOS devices.

Call Quality and Audio

For voice calls, the headphones use a six-microphone array that could be particularly useful in everyday situations where maintaining good clarity is difficult. You could also use the headphones through a USB-C port for lossless 24-bit / 48kHz playback and better call clarity.

However, Bose has not revealed every technical detail of the audio hardware, so we need to wait a bit longer. Meanwhile, the major audio upgrade by Bose to this device is said to be Bose's TrueSpatial Immersive Audio that includes Still, Motion, and Cinema modes. Previously, this feature was limited to the company's more premium QuietComfort Ultra range only.

In terms of battery, QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) could last for up to 24 hours on a single charge with Immersive Audio turned off and around 18 hours with Immersive Audio enabled. And with just 15 minutes of charging, you also get up to 2.5 hours of playback, which should be useful when you don't have dedicated time to stay till it gets fully charged.

For wireless connectivity, it comes with Bluetooth 5.4 with multi-device connectivity, standard SBC and AAC codecs, and Google Fast Pair support for quicker pairing with compatible Android devices.
