Realme P4R announced with a giant 8,000mAh battery and 144Hz display

Realme has officially launched the P4R, expanding its budget-friendly, battery-focused P4 series. It is positioned just below the P4 Power and features the second-largest battery in the lineup. As mentioned, the new phone packs a large 8,000mAh battery and supports a 144Hz refresh rate, though this comes with some compromises in display resolution and overall performance. In this article, I will cover everything about the Realme P4R, including its features, specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal. 

Realme P4R Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Realme P4R features a durable “Floating Light Design” with flat sides and slightly curved corners, offering a comfortable in-hand feel. It measures 8.8mm thick and weighs around 224g, making it relatively slim despite housing a large battery.

On the rear, it has a rectangular vertical camera island that includes a squircle-shaped customizable LED light for real-time gaming effects, incoming call alerts, notifications, and low-battery warnings. Up front, it sports a flat display with a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

Additionally, the phone comes with military-grade durability certification and an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance. For security, it features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button. It is available in Titanium Glare, Silver Glare, and Lavender Glare color options.

Moving on to the display, the Realme P4R sports a 6.8-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 720 × 1570 pixels, which feels relatively low for modern standards, but it is paired with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate for snappy app switching and gameplay.

The screen can reach up to 1200 nits of peak brightness for good outdoor visibility, with a typical brightness of 975 nits. Furthermore, the front panel is protected by impact-resistant Panda Glass to guard against scratches and minor drops.

Camera and Battery

For optics, the Realme P4R keeps things simple as a budget-friendly smartphone, featuring a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture that delivers reliable everyday shots in good lighting conditions. On the front, it offers an 8MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls. Both cameras support 1080p video recording at 30fps.

In terms of battery, the Realme P4R packs a massive 8000mAh battery paired with 45W wired charging. It also supports reverse wired charging and bypass charging.

Realme claims the phone can deliver up to 12 hours of gaming, up to 61 hours of calls, and up to 169 hours of music playback on a single charge, making it suitable for extended usage.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Realme P4R is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, built on a power-efficient 6nm process to handle everyday tasks efficiently. It also features a 5,300mm² AirFlow Vapour Chamber cooling system to help maintain stable performance during extended usage and multitasking. To further manage heat during heavy usage, the phone also includes a software-based “One-Tap Cooling” mode that helps reduce temperatures quickly when needed. 

While the phone can seamlessly handle day-to-day apps, it is not designed for demanding or long gaming sessions, so heavy titles may require lowered settings for smoother performance. The device comes with 4GB or 6GB of RAM paired with up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which is also expandable via a dedicated microSD card slot.

On the software side, the Realme P4R runs Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 straight out of the box. It is promised to receive two major Android updates and three years of security patches, ensuring reliable long-term software support.

It also includes highly practical, built-in AI-powered features such as AI Eraser 2.0 for smooth object removal, AI Ultra Clarity to automatically enhance blurry images, and AI Unblur to restore fine details in shaky photos.
