Xiaomi has officially introduced the Redmi Buds 8, the standard model in its newest true wireless earbuds lineup alongside the Buds 8 Pro, Buds 8 Active, and Buds 8 Lite. Positioned as a "high-value" pick with stronger noise cancellation than its predecessor, the Redmi Buds 8 packs a big driver, triple-mic call noise reduction, and a genuinely long battery life. Design

The Redmi Buds 8 sticks with the familiar Redmi vertical box-shaped case, giving it a clean and understated look rather than a flashy one. The earbuds themselves use a semi-in-ear fit, with a single earbud measuring 30.59 x 21.33 x 23.2mm (with the M-sized ear cap) and weighing just 5.0 grams. The whole package, buds and case combined, weighs 44.5 grams. Xiaomi also includes a battery indicator light strip on the case, letting you check the charge level at a glance without needing to open a companion app. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating, so light sweat and splashes shouldn't be a concern during workouts or commutes. The Redmi Buds 8 comes in three colour options: Black, White, and Green.

Audio

On the audio side, the Redmi Buds 8 is fitted with an 11mm dynamic driver tuned by Xiaomi's Acoustic Labs, and it supports Hi-Res Audio Wireless through the LHDC codec on compatible devices for more detailed sound reproduction. There are 5 EQ presets on offer — Balanced, Enhanced Bass, Enhanced Voice, Enhanced Treble, and Boost Volume  along with support for a custom EQ. Xiaomi has also added Sound ID, a personalised hearing-profile feature, though this is limited to phones running HyperOS.

For noise cancellation, the Buds 8 offers up to 50dB of ANC depth with an effective range of up to 4kHz, along with 3 adaptive noise cancellation levels that adjust automatically to your surroundings. There's also a 3-level transparency mode for when you need to stay aware of your environment without taking the earbuds out.

Features and Battery

The Redmi Buds 8 uses Bluetooth 5.4 for connectivity, with support for the SBC, AAC, and LHDC codecs. Call quality is handled by a triple-mic AI noise reduction system, which Xiaomi says can resist wind noise of up to 12m/s for clearer outdoor calls. The earbuds also support dual-device connection, audio sharing with a second pair of Redmi/Xiaomi earbuds, Google Fast Pair for quick setup on Android, and sound-based earbud finding through the Xiaomi Earbuds app.

As for battery, each earbud houses a 54mAh cell, while the charging case carries a 475mAh battery. With ANC switched off, Xiaomi rates the earbuds for up to 11 hours of playback on their own, and up to 44 hours combined with the case. Turning ANC on brings this down to 6.5 hours per charge and 28 hours total with the case. Fast charging is supported too — a 10-minute top-up (with the case above 20% battery) delivers up to 4 hours of music playback or roughly 1.5 hours of calls.
