Apple launched its new 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip back in October, and it’s now finally available in Nepal for purchase. The all-new M5 chip brings good improvements in performance compared to last year's M4 in terms of creative tasks, gaming or running demanding applications. So, yeah. In this article, I will be discussing everything you need to know about the 14-inch MacBook Pro, including its specs, availability, and price in Nepal.
MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) Overview
Design and Display
The MacBook Pro 14 M5 retains the same design as we have seen in the MacBook Pro M4. Talking about the colors it's available in silver and space black color options. In terms of design and build, it is made out of 100% recycled aluminium and weighs around 1.55 kg. In terms of dimensions, it is identical to the previous generation at 312.6 × 221.1 × 15.5 mm.

For display, it comes with the same 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with a resolution of 3,024 × 1,964 pixels. The display offers a sustained brightness of 1,000 nits and can reach up to 1,600 nits at peak. It also includes ProMotion technology with a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. Additionally, it comes with Wide color P3 and True Tone technology.
Performance

This is where the real update comes in: the 14-inch MacBook Pro now features Apple’s new M5 chip. It still has a 10-core CPU and GPU but brings significant improvements under the hood. Each GPU core now has its own neural accelerator, and the 16-core Neural Engine runs faster. Memory bandwidth is increased by 27.5%, and the chip supports up to 32GB of unified memory.
According to Apple, this translates to a 30% boost in overall performance compared to the M4. In terms of graphics, we see an even bigger jump, with ray-tracing tasks running 45% faster and multithreaded CPU performance improving by 20%. Compared to the five-year-old M1, Apple claims a 6x increase in AI performance.
In real-world use, the M5 can run diffusion models and local LLMs entirely on-device. This results in faster app performance, such as Topaz Video AI enhancements being 1.8x quicker, Blender 3D rendering being 1.7x faster, and Xcode code compilation being 1.2x faster compared to the M4.
