Asus recently refreshed its entry-level TUF gaming laptops for 2024. The variant, which launched in Nepal, comes with AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS paired with an NVIDIA RTX 4050 GPU. Design and Display

Starting with the design, ASUS says the TUF A16 (2024) features a new “ultra-durable” design inspired by the futuristic robots we see in movies. Basically, it just means the laptops are built to handle everyday knocks and bumps without much worry. For this, the device has met the requirements for the MIL-STD-810H rating. For colors, we only get the gray color option, but there are two slightly different looks. “Jaeger Gray” has a more bold, raised TUF logo, while “Mecha Gray” is a bit more professional with a subtle logo that blends in more.

Talking about the display, here we get a large 16-inch IPS panel with an FHD+ resolution. This time, Asus has gone with a more modern 16:10 aspect ratio instead of the traditional 16:9. That means you get more vertical space about 11% extra screen area, which reduces the need for scrolling and makes it better for productivity tasks. Speaking of productivity, the panel covers around 75.35% of the Adobe RGB color space. It’s not top-tier, but still decent for tasks like video editing and general content work.

For gamers, the display features a fast 144Hz refresh rate along with support for NVIDIA G-SYNC, ensuring smoother and tear-free gaming. On top of that, this device also supports a MUX switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, allowing seamless switching between the integrated GPU and dedicated GPU for better performance and efficiency.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, the ASUS TUF A16 comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS (6 cores, 12 threads) CPU paired with an NVIDIA RTX 4050 GPU with a 135W TGP. While this combination handles everyday tasks without any issue, it may struggle if you are more of a performance-centric user.

Okay, let's say if you are a power user, especially one who is into machine learning, AI workloads, or serious gaming, the hardware might feel quite underwhelming. The CPU lacks a higher core count, which is expected at this level, and the RTX 4050, despite its relatively high power limit, remains an entry-level GPU.
