Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL Overview

      Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL retain a similar look to previous Pixel models, with a polished metal frame, a matte glass back, and the familiar horizontal camera bar on the rear. However, the camera bar has now been slimmed down and also houses an LED system called “HiLight,” which can glow for important calls and interact with Gemini without requiring you to look at the screen.

The Pixel 11 Pro measures 8.4mm thick and weighs 204g, while the larger Pro XL is 8.5mm thick and weighs 226g. Both phones have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Moving on to the display, the Pixel 11 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED panel, while the Pro XL gets a larger 6.8-inch screen. Both support a 120Hz refresh rate, just like the standard Pixel 11, offering smooth animations and scrolling. The displays can also reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness, which should make them easier to view outdoors and under direct sunlight.

As the name suggests, Pro and Pro XL mainly differ in size, with the larger model offering more screen area for media consumption and other tasks. Otherwise, the two phones share the same display technology, refresh rate, and peak brightness.

      Camera and Battery

For the optics, the Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL share the same triple-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide camera, and 48MP telephoto camera. The telephoto lens offers 5x optical zoom, while Google’s Pro Zoom can extend the range up to 120x with the help of computational photography. Both phones also feature a 42MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

The camera hardware is not the only focus this time, as Google is also relying heavily on its image processing and AI capabilities. Early hands-on impressions from reviewers suggest that the new processing can improve areas such as video quality, skin tones, and low-light performance, even on cameras that have not received major hardware changes. However, these are early observations rather than our own testing.

On the battery front, the Pixel 11 Pro packs a 4,850mAh battery, while the Pro XL gets a larger 5,115mAh cell. Google claims both phones can offer more than 30 hours of battery life. The Pro supports 30W wired charging, while the Pro XL steps up to 45W, with both supporting 25W magnetic wireless charging via Qi2.2.

The charging upgrade is particularly notable on the Pro XL, as its faster wired charging allows Google to claim up to 75% charge in around 30 minutes, compared with 55% on the smaller Pro. This gives the XL an advantage for users who need to top up a larger battery quickly.

      Performance and Software

Similar to the Google Pixel 11, the Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are powered by the new Tensor G6 chipset. According to Google, the chip brings improvements to everyday performance while also offering a 50% faster AI engine, which plays a bigger role in the new Pixel's on-device AI features. The Pro models are configured with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

On the software side, both phones run Android 17 with Gemini Intelligence. It can handle multi-step tasks across supported apps, while Rambler improves voice input by understanding more natural and unstructured speech. Google has also introduced Live Translate for media, allowing the phones to translate audio from videos, podcasts, and incoming voice messages.

Likewise, the Pro models also get Creator Suite, which is aimed at content creators with tools such as an on-screen teleprompter and audio monitoring while recording. The company has promised seven years of OS and security updates for both phones, giving them a long software support cycle.
