HUAWEI has just introduced its all-new MatePad Air (2026), the successor to last year's MatePad Air model, and this time it's all about the display. Finally, it ditches the IPS LCD for a 12-inch 2.8K OLED panel running at a fast 144Hz, with an optional PaperMatte coating for that paper-like feel. Design and display

Starting with the design, the Huawei MatePad Air (2026) comes in a slim and lightweight design that's easy to carry. Its matte finish feels premium in hand and stays relatively clean by resisting fingerprints. The tablet comes in stylish Pink, White, and Light Blue color options. 

On the front, we get a proper display upgrade over its predecessor. Now we have a 12-inch 2.8K OLED panel with a fast 144Hz refresh rate, P3 wide color gamut, and an 87% screen-to-body ratio. This display also supports HDR content and can peak at 1200 nits, while regular brightness maxes around 1000 nits. There's also an optional PaperMatte Edition, which adds a matte coating on the display for a paper-like writing feel, which is ideal for taking notes or sketching. 

Other features

Under the hood, the MatePad Air 2026 is powered by Huawei's new in-house Kirin T93C chipset, paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and runs on HarmonyOS 4.3 out of the box.
 

In terms of the camera, we get a 50MP rear camera with autofocus, along with an upgraded 12MP front camera, which should make video calls and document scanning sharper than its predecessor.

Other than this, the tablet retains its six-speaker setup and a large 10,100mAh battery with 66W fast charging support. On the connectivity side, we get Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB-C (USB 3.1 Gen 1). Huawei is also offering the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pencil Pro as accessories.
