The new Huawei Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro are here.

Huawei has expanded its Pura 90 series in China, alongside the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max and Pura X Max. These new phones are the direct successors to the Pura 80 series we saw last year. These two come with a new design and a larger battery on top of everything else. So in this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the Huawei Pura 90 and the Pura 90 Pro, along with their features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.
Huawei Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro Overview
Design and Display
Starting with the design, both Huawei Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro use a premium combo of metal and glass as expected. On top of an IP68/69 rating. What's interesting is that Huawei has made some bold design decisions this time. For starters, the regular Pura 90 has a familiar triangular camera island and a large circular housing for all its camera modules.
We're not too fond of how it looks, to be honest, whereas the Pura 90 Pro opts for a flat-edge design and some lovely gradient color options. Including “Punk Guava”, “Orange Soda”, and “Coconut White”.
The display side of things is equally interesting because the Pura 90 now has a larger screen than its Pro sibling. Yep. It's rocking a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED panel with Huawei's Kunlun Glass on top—versus a 6.6-inch LTPO OLED panel on the Pro model with second-gen Kunlun Glass. Other than this, both screens have an FHD+ resolution and 10-bit colors.
Performance and Software
As for performance, Huawei went with the Kirin 9010S chip on the Pura 90, the same processor we saw on the Pura 80. While the Pura 90 Pro gets the Kirin 9030S chip instead, which brings some notable performance bumps over Kirin 9020 on the Pura 80 Pro.
Huawei claims you can expect up to 25% better overall performance on the Pura 90 Pro. So, besides improved responsiveness in day-to-day work, we're also expecting better stability in terms of AAA gaming on this guy.

Memory-wise, these phones are offered with 12/16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage for the Pura 90 Pro. Compared to how the regular Pura 90 is limited to 512GB of internal storage. They both run on Huawei's HarmonyOS 6.1 operating system, which has an iOS 26-inspired “Liquid Glass” look throughout the UI. Besides all the usual AI features we've come to expect on a phone in 2026. And although I don't see any mention of future software updates, you can still expect up to 3 major OS updates and 4 years of security patches for the Pura 90 series.

Camera and Battery
In terms of cameras, the Pura 90 Pro has a 50MP primary sensor with a f/1.4 – 4.0 aperture and a 50MP f/2.1 telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. It is powered by Huawei's “XMAGE” imaging system, like in other flagship phones from Huawei. That said, we're a little sad to see that Huawei has downgraded the ultrawide camera from a 40MP unit on the Pura 80 Pro to a 12.5MP sensor this time.
The regular Pura 90, on the other hand, mostly brings upgrades as far as the camera is concerned. Its 50MP main camera no longer has a variable aperture, but you now get a higher-res 50MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP selfie camera. Huawei has skipped its “XMAGE” image system for the Pura 90 as well, by the way. While they both feature a “Red Maple” multispectral sensor to process shadows and color reproduction more precisely.
Remember how I was talking about AI features on these phones? Well, one interesting feature I noticed on the Pura 90 series is something called “AI Pose Recommendation”. Which sounds cool enough to drag most of the user's attention. If you are wondering how it works, let me explain. Basically, these phones can detect how the subject in your frame is positioned in real-time, alongside everything there is in the background, and then they suggest an appropriate pose that fits the surroundings.
Moving on, the Huawei Pura 90 packs a 6500mAh battery compared to a smaller 6000mAh unit on the Pura 90 Pro. They both should last a full day of use just fine—and when you need to fill them up—the Pura 90 and 90 Pro support 66W and 100W wired charging, respectively. Alongside 50W wireless charging.
