OPPO Reno 16 arrives with a 200MP camera and 1.5K OLED display

Oppo has officially launched the Reno 16 series in China, including the standard Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro as successors to last year’s Reno 15 lineup. The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch OLED display, a 200MP main camera, MediaTek’s Dimensity 8550 SUPER chipset, and a large 6,700mAh battery. In this article, I’ll go over the Oppo Reno 16’s specifications, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal. 

Oppo Reno 16 Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Oppo Reno 16 features a premium aesthetic with a glass front and a 3D textured glass back. It is paired with a flat aluminum alloy frame and ultra-narrow bezels for a sleek in-hand feel. Additionally, it includes an action button on the left side for shortcuts that you can customize according to your needs.

The phone measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 191g, depending on the variant. It features a square camera island housing a triple-camera setup in the top-left corner. For durability, it is rated IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K for dust and water resistance. The device is available in Moonlit Night Black, Galaxy Purple, and Hear-Fluttering Stars color options. 

Moving on to the display, the Oppo Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling and up to 3,600-nit peak brightness for excellent visibility in direct sunlight. The screen also supports 3840Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort during long usage. 

Camera and Battery

In terms of cameras, the Oppo Reno 16 comes with a familiar triple camera setup from the Reno 15 series, featuring a 200MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS, and a 50MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.0 aperture for wide-angle shots and videos.

On the front, it sports a 50MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus for selfies and video calls.

For battery, the Oppo Reno 16 packs a large 6,700mAh battery paired with 80W fast charging for all-day use.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Oppo Reno 16 has moved from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 found on the Reno 15 model to the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 SUPER chip, built on a 4nm node, delivering strong performance for intensive workloads and extended gaming sessions. The phone is available with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage, making it well-suited for heavy usage. 

On the software side, the Oppo Reno 16 runs on ColorOS 16, based on Android 16. You can expect five major upgrades and six years of security patches.

The Oppo Reno 16 starts at CNY 3,499 for the base 12/256GB variant, while the top-end 16GB/1TB model is priced at CNY 4,899. If launched in Nepal, the Oppo Reno 16 is expected to be priced at around NPR 78,499 for the base variant.
