Oppo Reno 16 Pro goes official with a 7,000mAh battery and Dimensity 9500s chip

Oppo has introduced the Oppo Reno 16 Pro, expanding its upper-mid-range smartphone lineup, along with the standard Reno 16. The Reno 16 Pro features a larger 6.78-inch OLED display, Dimensity 9500s SoC, and a huge 7,000mAh battery, compared to the standard model. In this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the Reno 16 Pro, including features, specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal. 

Oppo Reno 16 Pro Overview

Design and Display

Talking about the design, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro has a flat aluminium alloy frame with a glass front and a textured glass rear panel, offering a sleek, comfortable in-hand feel. Depending on the color variant, the phone measures up to 7.86 mm thick and weighs around 208 g, leaning more on the heavy side compared to the standard Reno 16 model. 

Likewise, it comes with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings against dust and water, ensuring high durability in extreme conditions. The phone is available in Moonlit Night Black, Dreamy Blue, and Heart-Fluttering Stars color options. 

Moving on to the display, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro features a larger 6.78-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED panel compared to the standard model. Similar to Reno 16, the display supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and 10-bit color depth for vibrant media consumption. The screen can reach up to 1800 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM), making it suitable for outdoor use. For security, the phone includes an in-display optical fingerprint sensor along with face unlock support. 

Performance and Software

In terms of performance, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro is powered by a flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500s SoC, built on a 3nm process for strong gaming and multitasking performance. It is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Unlike the standard model, it does not offer a 1TB storage variant.

On the software side, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro runs ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box. Here you can expect to receive five major OS upgrades and six years of security patches.

Camera and Battery

For optics, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup housed in a square module, featuring a 200MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with an f/2.8 aperture that supports 3.5x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens for wider shots. It delivers detailed and stable images even in low-light conditions. 

On the front, the phone features a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus. Both front and rear cameras support up to 4K@60fps video recording.

Moving on to the battery, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro packs a much larger 7,000mAh battery compared to the standard model and its predecessor, the Reno 15 series. It supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. Additionally, the phone also comes with reverse charging and bypass charging support.

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro is available in China with a starting price of CNY 3,699 for the 12/256 model, whereas the top-end variant 16/512GB is priced at CNY 4,499. While there is no information about its launch in local market, if it gets announced in Nepal, one can expect Oppo Reno 16 Pro price to be around NPR 100,899 for the base variant.
