Can it deliver the same results on real phones?

Samsung could have a much stronger Exynos chip on its hands this time. The upcoming Exynos 2700 has reportedly performed better than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro in Samsung’s own tests. It did better in CPU, GPU, AI, and power efficiency tests. However, these results have not been confirmed by independent tests yet. So, we will have to wait for real-world testing to see how the Exynos 2700 actually performs. Exynos 2700 shows strong CPU performance
Starting with the CPU, the Exynos 2700 reportedly managed to score 19% higher than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in Geekbench 6.5’s multi-core test. It was also around 9.5% ahead of the Pro version.

That is a pretty big difference on paper. If the numbers turn out to be accurate in real-world devices, Samsung could finally have an Exynos chip that can properly compete with Qualcomm’s flagship silicon.
It also does well in GPU tests
Meanwhile, the GPU results look promising as well. The Exynos 2700 reportedly had around 5% higher peak performance than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Things get more interesting when power is limited. In a 2.5W test, the Exynos chip was reportedly around 22% faster than Qualcomm’s Pro chip. This could matter more in actual phones than the peak score itself. A chipset needs to maintain good performance without using too much power, especially during gaming and other demanding tasks.
Exynos 2700 also leads in AI testing
Samsung is also said to have made improvements to the AI performance of the Exynos 2700. In a test using the Llama 3.1 8B model, the chip generated responses around 18% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. The Exynos 2700 was also said to use around 12.7% less power in a simulated AI workload. AI is becoming a bigger part of smartphone chipsets, so this could be another advantage for Samsung.
Could we see it in the Galaxy S27?
The Exynos 2700 is expected to appear in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 series. However, Samsung has not confirmed which Galaxy S27 models or markets will use the chip.
There have also been reports that Samsung is testing different chipset options for the Galaxy S27 lineup. This could include both the Exynos 2700 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 variants. If Samsung can bring the same level of performance to its final smartphones, it could give the company more control over its flagship lineup. It could also reduce Samsung’s reliance on Qualcomm for its high-end phones.

But these results still need to be taken with some caution
There is one important thing to keep in mind here. These results come from Samsung’s internal testing, and we do not yet have independent benchmark results from a finished smartphone. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro has also not been officially detailed by Qualcomm yet. So, the final performance numbers could be different. Still, the early results are promising for Samsung. The company has had a mixed record with its Exynos flagship chips in recent years, so seeing the Exynos 2700 ahead in several tests is certainly worth watching.

On paper, the Exynos 2700 looks like a big step forward for Samsung. That said, these numbers alone are not enough to declare the Exynos 2700 the better flagship chipset. We still need independent benchmarks and real-world tests once the chip arrives in commercial smartphones. If Samsung can deliver similar performance in the Galaxy S27 series, the Exynos 2700 could make the company’s flagship phones much more competitive.
