Four years after the Yatri P1, Yatri has returned with the new P2 electric scooter, this time in partnership with Sipradi. The P2 was unveiled by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle at Park Village Resort, Kathmandu, marking the first product under the Yatri-Sipradi joint venture. The new scooter is designed, engineered, and manufactured in Nepal, with Yatri focusing on the country's unique road conditions, including hills, heat, and monsoon.

In this article, I will discuss the electric scooter in detail, including the expected Yatri P2 price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Yatri P2 Overview

Design and build

Starting with the design, the Yatri P2 takes a sporty and futuristic approach with sharp body lines, a distinctive front section, and LED lighting. It uses a dual-cradle trellis frame and rides on 14-inch alloy wheels, while suspension duties are handled by a 90 mm-travel front fork and dual progressive rear shocks. It also gets dual-disc brakes with 240 mm front and 220 mm rear ventilated rotors. Yatri says the chassis has been developed around Nepal's varied terrain, including hills and uneven roads.

The P2 also focuses on everyday practicality with 30 liters of LED-lit boot space, a spacious front board area, and a 45W front-mounted device charger. Here you also get the option to choose between “Everest Snow”, “Mustang Desert”, “Bhairab Midnight”, “Shivapuri Thunder”, “Annapurna Storm”, and “Sauraha Mist” color options, while the overall styling gives it a distinctive look compared with the more conventional electric scooters currently available in Nepal.

Motor Capacity and Battery

Moving to performance, the Yatri P2 is powered by a 10 kW peak-power mid-drive PMSM motor producing up to 315 Nm of wheel torque and a claimed top speed of 90 km/h. It comes with 3 kWh, 3.7 kWh, and 5.2 kWh battery options, offering claimed city ranges of 90 km, 112 km, and 157 km, respectively. There is also an optional 1.8 kWh range extender that adds another 50 km, taking the claimed total range to 207 km for 5.2kWh variant.

The battery uses LG lithium-ion cells, carries an IP67 rating, and comes with a warranty of up to eight years or 80,000 km. The motor and drivetrain have also been designed around Nepal's terrain, with Yatri highlighting continuous climbs as one of the conditions considered during development.

Fast charging

Coming to charging, the P2 supports DC fast charging, where Yatri claims to reach Low charge to 80% charge within 41 minutes across all three battery options. For home charging, the 1,350W onboard AC charger can take the battery to 80% in under 2.5 hours, with Optimized, Eco, and Quick charging modes. This makes the P2’s home-charging capability one of the more impressive offerings in Nepal’s electric scooter segment.

Sipradi Yatri also plans to expand its DC fast-charging network across around 30 cities in Nepal, stretching from Birtamode in the east to Jomsom in the west. This should be an important part of the P2’s longer-distance usability, especially as charging infrastructure continues to develop beyond major cities.

Smart features and connectivity

Now moving to the smart features, the P2 gets a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with built-in 4G connectivity, showing vehicle information and nearby charger locations. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation, calls, and music, a feature that remains quite rare in the electric scooter segment, especially in Nepal.

The companion app adds live vehicle and charger data, route planning, trip intelligence, live location tracking, remote immobilization, theft alerts, and proximity-based keyless start. The scooter also gets tire-pressure monitoring, cruise control, hill hold, three riding modes, reverse mode, and three levels of regenerative braking.

Other notable features include fall detection, Class-D projector LED headlamps, regen-responsive tail lights, anti-theft alerts, and a 45W phone charger. Yatri also says the P2's electronics and embedded systems have received AIS-standard certification from ARAI, Pune.

Sipradi after-sales service

One of the other important aspects of the Yatri P2 is the backing of Sipradi, which brings decades of experience in Nepal’s automotive distribution and after-sales service. Through the Sipradi Yatri partnership, the P2 is expected to benefit from Sipradi’s established service and support network across the country.

For an electric scooter from a Nepali brand, this could be an important factor for buyers who are concerned about service availability, spare parts, and long-term ownership support. The company is also building its dedicated Yatri Experience Center in Teku, where customers will be able to experience the scooter and access support as the P2 moves toward commercial availability.

Apart from this, Yatri is also preparing the delivery of the 3.7 kWh and 5.2 kWh variants from mid-October through November, while the entry-level 3 kWh version is expected to follow from December.

Yatri P2 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Yatri P2 has been unveiled ahead of its commercial launch, with pre-bookings starting from the NADA Auto Show 2026. The official price has not been announced yet and is expected to be revealed during the commercial launch in September 2026.

More importantly, I think the price will decide how competitive the P2 becomes. If Yatri can keep the entry variant below NPR 3 lakh, the mid variant around NPR 3.5 lakh, and the higher variant close to NPR 4 lakh, it could put strong pressure on existing competitors. At the same time, the P2 could also encourage more Nepali brands to develop locally made electric two-wheelers.

My First Impression

At first look, the Yatri P2 feels like a serious step forward for Nepal's electric two-wheeler scene. The fact that it is designed and manufactured in Nepal also makes the P2 more meaningful, especially with growing government support for local EV manufacturing.
